Stanhope
GENERAL APPROACH
Grid Reference: NY 988 403
Approach from Stanhope and take the B6278 signposted to Edmundbyers. After 1/2 km and on the sharp righthand bend opposite the escape lane take the road to the left.
Stanhope Dene
Theres parking for a couple of cars on the first bend or better continue taking the left fork past the houses to where the road widens and opens out. Theres parking here which is best for Bamm-Bamm and Lost Sheep Buttresses.
For the other buttresses it is better to continue along the road for a further 1/2 km until the track bears right and widens. Just past here the top of Yosemite Buttress is visible on the right. Park here on the grass or where the track widens out.
Stanhope Dene Resident Evil
Slightly further on is the separate quarry that forms Resident Evil. Park just before or just past the walls.
Stanhope Dene Lakeside
Continue along the Dene above the stream to reach Lakeside which is adjacent to the track and visible behind the trees and across the pool of water.
Stanhope Ashes Quarry
Park in the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope and read the signs - follow the footpath(s) into the quarry. Head to the west end of the quarry.
Stanhope Millstalk
Stanhope Millstalk is a small bouldering crag of sandstone sitting above the valley. Drive further up the valley until you pass a derelict building on the right. Park here and follow a wide track which follows the side of the stream until a path leads off to the rocks on the left after 10 minutes.
